Boots acquired the store in Appleby in Westmorland only a few months prior to commencement of this project. With considerable historical significance, the building dated back some 400 years.

The work undertaken by ourselves included the refurbishment of a store room located behind the main shop and complete upgrade and fit-out of the shop itself.

Given the age of the building there were a number of historical issues associated with the project which meant that Naylor & Walkden had to work closely with National Heritage to ensure that the store’s refurbishment was sympathetic to the building’s character.

During construction careful consideration had to be given to the location of the dispensary and how customers would be able to get their prescriptions in a safe and accessible manner without the security of the pharmacy being compromised.

The store room conversion needed to be completed within a four week timeframe and was undertaken by a number of Heritage contractors working in partnership with ourselves. Great emphasis was placed on a co-ordinated approach to our supply chain.
